FILM

How do I pay for my film processing order?

We are a solely cashless store and thus, only accept card in store at 188 Franklin Street, Adelaide SA 5000.

For our drop box and mail-in orders, you first fill in the respective forms (mail in here and drop box here). We will then send you a payment link. Once your payment is made, we begin the process of developing and/or scanning your film.

What kinds of film do you process?

Currently we process 35mm and 120 colour negative (C41) and black and white film. Please visit our Lab Services page for a detailed list of services that we offer. Unfortunately, we do not offer slide film (E6) processing at this stage.

Can you develop my disposable camera?

Absolutely! Drop off your camera in store or in our dropb-box or mail it straight to us and we will work our magic to get your memories back to you! For disposable cameras, we recommend opting for our basic quality scans as this will be more than sufficient for these types of cameras.

What kind of equipment do you use?

The two main pieces of equipment used within our lab are our developers and scanner. The developer we are using is a Noritsu V30S for C41 colour rolls and a Phototherm Super Sidekick 4 Developer for B&W rolls. For the scanner, we use the ever magical and dependable Fujifilm Frontier SP3000, an industry workhorse for nearly all film types. As the business grows, we’ll of course be looking to add more equipment, which will allow us to continuously meet as many of your film needs as possible.

How long does it take to get my film developed and scanned?

Generally, we will process rolls as they come in; expect a turnaround time of 3 – 4 days from the moment we receive the film either in store or through our dropbox or mail-in. For films dropped off at locations around Adelaide, we have a turnaround time of 3 – 4 days from when we pick them up on Saturday.

How do I receive my film scans?

Once your film has been developed and scanned (or scanned only if you have already developed them), we will send you a Dropbox link of your photos via email. If you are having trouble accessing your link, send us an email and we will help sort this out.

What are negatives & why would I keep them?

Negatives are the developed strips of film which come from your roll that you have shot in your camera. This is a physical tangible copy of your photographs which we scan from.

Not everyone wishes to keep their negatives. People have different reasons for keeping their negatives. If you lose your photos for any reason, you can scan your negatives again in the future. Some people also like to use print from their negatives in a darkroom lab.

If you do keep your negatives, we recommend having an organisation system early on in your film journey so that they are easily understandable and accessible.

How can I get my negatives back?

You can collect your negatives in store within 30 days of receiving your photos via Dropbox. If you would like the negatives posted to you, please email us at groundcontrol@flightlabs.com.au or call us on +61 406 717 051. Please note that the cost is borne by the customer.

How long do you keep negatives?

We hold onto your negatives for 30 days. After that they are disposed of appropriately.

Do I receive prints with my order?

At this stage we only offer digital copies of your images upon scanning.

What do I do if I have only received part of my order?

If you have sent us different types of film for processing, such as colour and black and white, you might find that you receive your colour photos first. Don’t stress; your black and white photos may take a little longer, but they’ll be with you soon!

What do I do if I have not received my photos?

If you have sent us a roll for processing and are yet to receive your scans within 7 days, please contact us via email at groundcontrol@flightlabs.com.au or phone on +61 406 717 051. We apologise for the inconvenience and will try and sort it out as soon as possible!

What if I am missing pictures from my roll?

If you believe you shot more photos than you received, often this is because there are blank exposures on the roll. These blank exposures are often caused by light leaks or possible mishandling of the film roll. To double check that we have not mis-scanned a roll, email us at groundcontrol@flightlabs.com.au or call us on +61 406 717 051.
